Hi @Clarey
Are you both on the same mobile network ?
Updates are sent out in waves according to country, phone model, phone serial and build number.
If a phone was supplied by a network then its classed as branded and most want to test out updates to make sure they don't clash with their network services first, and then allow Samsung to send them out.
What updates did your husbands phone get ?
Possibly Security updates as Samsung tend to provide 2-3 major updates to their phones and then they stop.
If there isn't anything showing in the phones software update section then maybe consider using Samsung Smartswitch to see if theres anything available there.

Ok.
Remember take into account both phones will have different build and serial numbers too.
