M31 Internet issues

My M31 is nearly 3 years old - software is up-todate. Recently when I'm away from home, specifically at the gym, and trying to listen to a podcast, the Internet access is very unreliable and keeps stalling - even though I'm supposedly connected to the WiFi. Rebooting the phone helps but only for a short while. I'm not short of storage. My son says it's the age of the phone. Is he right?

Could just be the connectivity at the gym, have you tried it with WiFi off? Tried it not at the gym?

There's lots of variables to consider @coyraww 

Yes the age of the phone and the stability of the Wi-Fi connection in the gym.

As @-Robot- suggests see what Wi-Fi connection is like at home or in places like a coffee shop etc.

The alternative is to have a data connection if signal is stable in the gym.

WiFi is fine at home. Connection is poor at gym with WiFi off too. It used to be fine. It's the only place where I listen to anything that requires a good connection- ie when out and about elsewhere I'm just looking at random things where a slow response isn't so noticeable.
