Hi,

I,ve tried to connect my S21 to my PC. This has worked previously so I,m at odds as to what has happened. Everytime I connect my phone I get the USB Not Recognised notification.

I have googled all and have deleted all USB Roots in Device Manager, Restarted the PC and still the phone is not showing.

I have tried in another laptop and same thing is happening.

Is there any settings within the phone that is stopping this connection?

Find it strange that is was working before. The only thing different would be a Windows Up-date.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

I too have this problem, with the usb c - headphone -adapter. So my headphones don't work anymore. Phone detects the usb for a few seconds, but then it looses it. Very annoying.

Has anyone found a solution or do I keep hoping that the next update will fix it?

@sg-smayer97: For a Galaxy S8 running Android 8, please head to Settings > Apps > Tap the 3 dots in the top right > Show System Apps > Scroll down to 'USBSettings' > Storage > Clear cache > Clear data, then restart your device. I hope this helps.

Thanks.  Unfortunately, still get Unsupported USB Connection error message using Smart Switch software installed on my Mac. I have tried other cables, tried different USB port.

If I use Image Capture. I can get access to the photos as long as I choose PTP vs MTP, so I know the cables are good.

Any other options to fix this?

i also started having this issue just now with my Samsung S10e i was transferring some pictures from my phone.  after i was done i put my laptop to sleep (dell inspiron 16 - win 11). next when i came back and wanted to continue... usb device not recognized.    also it keeps connecting and disconnecting.

tried :

  • different cables including the original cable that's almost brand new  - no result
  • tried cleaning the usbc port - no result
  • tried this: Settings > Apps > Tap the 3 dots in the top right > Show System Apps > Scroll down to 'USBSettings' > Storage > Clear cache > Clear data, then restart your device.  - no result
  • tried other USB ports on my laptop - no result
  • tried uninstalling and installing drivers from device manager on windows - no result
  • tried installing samsung smart switch and force re-installing device drivers from there - no result

Interestingly if i switch to transferring images, it instantly shows up. no issues. but then i only have access to some folders, not all.

Also interestingly, if i plug in my phone into another laptop, everything works OK.

out of ideas

- did i delete some files / folders by mistake from my phone ?

I have similar problem with a M52 5G. It randomly disconnects when trying to transfer files, and no way to successful connect again until I restart the PC. Happens with both, the desktop and the laptop, with any cable. Other brands phones don't have issues.

@Members_bgaDaWb: If you have followed the steps provided in my previous reply to enable system apps, then please scroll down the list of apps, which is arranged alphabetically, and you should find USBSettings here.
