Removing SIM won't help. It matters on firmware. You would have to flash another firmware which I strongly don't recommend.
You have bought the phone from an carrier? Try asking him for updates.

Hi , are there instructions to flash the firmware if that's the only other fix? My phone (S10) hasn't updated since the release date and I bought it online / not tied to a carrier.
Thanks for any info.
Update: factory reset fixed it.
