Screen not turning back on from being switched off / restarted

I've been facing problems with my device where if I updated my phone, restart it or if the battery dies the device won't fully fire up! 

The screen initially lights up and then seconds later I'll have green stripes across the screen followed by a black out! The device doesn't seem to have LED problems as if I leave it a while or even just repeatedly try to turn it off and on (using the side button and the down volume) it will eventually work but does take a lot of frustration! 

Would anyone know if this is due to an update or a faulty device?

I'm not a phone engineer but with you mentioning the " green stripe across the screen " this leads me to think this is a hardware issue.

I would suggest that you consider booking in the phone with a Samsung Service Centre.
