My dad gave a samsung galaxy S9 which needed a battery replacement. I'm assuming it was someone else's because i dont ever remember him having it. After replacing the battery i turned it on and factory reset it. But when i powered it off from the recovery menu and turned it back on, it went to the setup page and asked for language and internet, but after it said that there was an attempt to factory reset the device and it needed an email, the problem is that i dont know who owned the phone before, neither they email or password. Any way around this? or any way to actually factory reset it?

Ask your father where he got it from, so you can get the details

You are encountering Factory Reset Protection. The resolve is to have the original owner enter the google account and password that was on the phone when it was reset, or to have it flashed by an engineer. Samsung can do this for you but you will need proof of purchase.
