S21 Ultra Signal Issues

Recently bought S21 Ultra direct from Samsung.

It's ability to pick up a mobile signal is shockingly bad. Areas I used to get 4g on Huawei P30 Pro, now I'm lucky to get a poor H+ if that.

I've changed no end of settings with Vodafone's help to no avail.
I've wiped partition cache.
All updates downloaded.

Samsung Customer Service are about as useful as a chocolate tea cup, saying that I have to return the device for replacement but because it is a customised colour/memory, no device for up to 2 months. (not happening).

Any ideas lovely people?

Hi GoanGeek

Thank you for your comment, very much appreciated.

I've done the SIM out, restart the device and SIM back in.

Sadly no difference on this occasion but thank you very much for the suggestion.

Hi G0UDG

I have an ongoing case with Vodafone. They initially said no issues with local masts. When I explained that their Network Coverage Checker shows good indoor and outdoor coverage here on 2g, 3g and 4g they went away and raised it to another team who found a fault!!!

That got fixed but didn't resolve the issue. About half of my locality picks up 4g outdoors, the other half 3g despite what the Network Coverage Checker states.

Indoors? If you haven't got WiFi calling, you're in a bit of bother.

So I'm still talking to Vodafone Networks 2 about this.

(oh and yeah yeah yeah, we all know how accurate Network Coverage Checkers are don't we lol 🤣🤣🤣)

I shall ask Vodafone to do this.

Just need to summon up the energy to speak to them. Level 1 can be quite a painful experience 🤪

This is not a fluke or a local issue you are having. I just migrated here from another very long thread in which quite a number of people are complaining about these same issues with the S21 line. I have an S 21 Ultra and it is possibly the worst performing phone I've ever had, as far as the signal goes. It cuts out constantly all over the country, and in places where other people around me with Verizon service have full signal on their phones. It's at once relieving and simultaneously aggravating to realize many others are having the same issues I've been having. If it had just been my phone, replacing it with another one on a warranty claim would be a promising remedy. But now I don't even know. Maybe I'll downgrade to a different model... Or switch to another brand.

Hi Ryannnn

Thank you for your input here. I too have read quite a bit on this issue and I note the lack of any input from Samsung Staff on this thread......

Will there be a Note 7 style recall we wonder?

Yes, everything tends to work fine on wifi. But that's not why I bought the phone and the service I have for it.

If you're on Vodafone UK, you can set a new APN profile. I've used the follows and have better connectivity.

Beneath the username section, the password is wap.

After creating the new APN profile, set it as your default and restart your phone.

I personally get better connectivity using this APN profile.Screenshot_20210804-220617_Settings_19071.jpg

Hi there @sufisticdesignz

The APN you have there is the one I'm using and is the default on this device.

The only difference is in the MMS section where instead of it ending with 12, mine ends with 012. Everything else is the same except the name (you've called it Data 2)

Vodafone recommended a new one where instead of wap & wap, it is web & web but that wasn't much better sadly.

Ah okay. Well, it seems like we'll have to request a deprovisioning and reprovisioning of the sim.

Samsung really has to look in to this issue.
