Hi, all of a sudden my S21 is not making a sound when I receive text, email etc. I've got the sound turned up and when you try to change the notification sound it makes a sound but it doesn't work as an alert. I've done a hard and soft reset but it's still not working.
I have the same problem - started Saturday. The notification sound is not working for the message App and Whatsapp. The phone sound is turned up, the phone is NOT in 'do not disturb' mode and if I connect my phone to a bluetooth speaker (or in the car) then the notification sound occurs, so it appears to be a problem with the phone. Perhaps related to the most recent 'upgrade'? Please Samsung can you get these things right! This issue is NOT solved as the header seems to suggest - the 'solution' from the moderator was a question not a solution, and this was glib and simplistic... Us intelligent users (the majority) need a more reasonable and serious response
The answer (after much self detective work) is that the system update last Friday / Saturday for some reason resulted in the master notification volume being turned down to zero!
To fix: go to settings -> sounds and vibration -> notification sound, where the volume can be increased above zero by sliding the 'Notification sound volume' bar to the right. This over-rides the sound volume set in individual apps...
As well as the master notification sound volume above, you could try:
1) checking the notification sound volume in the individual app you are using
2) Checking you aren't connected to a Bluetooth speaker (the notification sound then goes through there, and sometimes it is off or in another room... (I've made that mistake!)
( I assume the general volume setting on your phone isn't set too low...!)
I'm having the same problem but with my text messages. I received the text messages but not the sound. My volume is turned up in notifications and individual text messaging as well
