Since getting my S20+ everything has been great, yet I've noticed within the last day or two that I'm not getting notifications anymore. I won't see WhatsApp or Instagram messages unless I open the apps. I'm not getting app icon badges either. My phone is on loud and I have notifications turned on for both of these applications. I've tried restarting the phone and deleting and reinstalling WhatsApp and the issue still continues.

Thanx TeeJay3!  I downloaded Files By Google and did the cleaning and the gmail notifications are back.  I really appreciate the help.  All the best to you and yours.  Cheers

So - same problem for me - must have been something I did as I had tried to save battery and data by sleeping apps and removing background usage - did what was suggested above and they all started coming back - the toggle was already on, but toggles off and on again.....  Notifications came through from reminders, calendar stuff from earlier that clearly hadn't sent their notification earlier

I was also having this issue on my brand new S20 (no notification badges on apps). I finally stumbled across the solution, which had to do with the app Microsoft Launcher. The launcher was blocking the notification badges.

Try this: Settings->Apps->Search for "Microsoft Launcher" (or Samsung Launcher or Samsung Experience depending on Android version)->**NOTE: changing "notifications" to allowed doesn't seem to do anything, so ignore that->tap "Home Screen" field and set to "One UI Home"

This totally fixed the issue for me. I had to then change other settings again to get the badges to look how I wanted (numbers or dots), etcetera.

I just cleared the cache partition on two phones and now voicemail notifications are working.  If you google search how to reset cache partition, you will get step by step instructions.  It is easy and only takes a minute.
