UK user. Need android 13 for a new app but phone is only on android 10. Checking for software updates and none available. Last update october 2020. 

Is there any way to upgrade android version or just not possible on this model of phone?

That phone should be running android 14 and getting monthly updates. Uhhhh.

Did you buy your phone outside of the uk, if your phones region set outside of the uk, is your sim card from the uk? If any of those are no, that will be why your updates are broken.

If your phone is from the wrong region/country, get a cheap sim/esim for the country the phone is from, use that and your phone will update. If your sim isn't from the uk, same as before but get a cheap uk sim. If you answered yes to everything, let me know in a reply, there are other things you can try.
You are 4 years behind on updates and I'm honestly impressed

Hi @Dangermouse1910  Actually the S20 lauched with Android 10 and was elegible for 3 years of os updates and 4 years of security updates. Android 13 was the last OS available. 

However the point stands, if device not being used in intended country likely to be issues. You could try Smart Switch.

Thanks @JAMES4578 and @arianwen27 for your replies. The sim is definitely UK (tesco mobile/O2) and the phone should be too....but I did buy it second hand / refurbished so there is a possibility its origin may not be UK. Is there a way to check? 

I will look at Smart Switch to see if this gives me other options.

If you Go to Settings-About Phone-Software Information-service Provider. Software Version. The last three letters give you the country specific code. For a UK non carrier Device it should be EUX.

Thanks @JAMES4578 - that will be the issue then! I will need to rethink if I absolutely need to update or keep going as is for now.

Don't update! Samsung will brick your touchscreen with the latest update. Check internet about this issue. Touchscreen not working after 6.1 update or similar. My S20 FE was working perfectly until yesterday when it update to the last binary, now I have a rock in my desk. So sad, samsung did this.
