S20+ Android Update

Other S20+ owners what android version and One UI has your phone updated to?

mine is android 13 one UI 5.1 security patch 1 May 2024

but I was expecting to be on android 14 One UI 6??

Unfortunately, you will not receive UI 6.0 but should continue to receive quarterly security patches until 2025.

What does that mean exactly?  Patches up until 2025 or continues thru 2025?  I have a S20+ myself that I love & have no issues with... and quite honestly,  really don't want a newer model - so another year & a half still works for me.  I recently heard updates were supposedly changesld from 3 to 4 generations - apparently that's only security patch updates, correct? 

(May be time for me to switch brands after this phones done bc this is finite update lifespan is just too much for the ridiculous amt of money they keep jacking up with every new model)

Samsung started providing 4 years of software upgrades from the S21 series, and for the latest S24 series, Samsung guarantees 7 years of software upgrades. The S21 series Android 15 is the last software it will get, S20 series won't get Android 14

I JUST got the latest Security Patch Update for OCT 2024 , One UI 5.1 & I'm ok w Android 13 not bumping up to 14...  I believe for the S20+, this is the LAST YEAR FOR UPDATES - that being said, it's already November.   I still LOVE my phone & not looking forward to any Google AI/ Gemini or whatever updates -  Google searches now w AI suck anyway!  Consistently outright & just plain wrong info - a LOT... and how is that supposed to be better? 

I'll keep my phone for at least another year if possible (or even longer if I can)!  I just am so sick of the constant mandatory upgrade bs at this point - and again, even then I'm ok w a used phone on eBay than forking over a ridiculous amount to the cell phone company looking to jacking up my service plan/ new phone fees along with it that seem to last indefinitely
