I have updated my S10 software to OneUI 3 and I have noticed that something changed in the Gallery app. Prior to this software update when you opened a photo using the Samsung Gallery app there used to exist a rotate icon on the top right next to the smart view icon. By clicking this icon it was a simple way to rotate each picture without having to activate the phone portrait mode and rotate the screen to better view photos.
Is there a way this shortcut can be added again?
Thank you.

Wouldn't it make more sense to just bring back the icon instead of having to go through that. What is next, getting rid of the option to crop?
Or, maybe they will make us go through a huge process just to be able to take a picture.
Open the camera app, tap the screen 5 times. Close the camera app, tap the screen 5 times. Open the camera app, swipe up, swipe down, swipe left twice, tap the screen 4 times, swipe right. Now you can take a picture.

I've enabled 'gallery labs', but there is no 'optional menu in viewer' option shown in it, as of July 03 2024.
Please stop removing basic functions/ features from your apps. All that it does it cause people to seek out third-party apps to solve their issues (issues that shouldn't exist in the first place).
Other basic options that we should have when it comes to image rotation;
1. An icon/ menu option to rotate images from the image selection screen (the thumbnail view screen).
2. The option to select multiple images at once then rotate them all at the same time from the selection/ thumbnail view screen.

Thanks
I followed your initial instructions, but as others have found, there was no change.
Followed your second set of instructions and they worked. The icon though is tiny and could be easily missed. What are Samsung playing at? It's almost as if they don't want anyone to used this function anymore. Ridiculous!
Once again, thanks.

Thanks for these tips. Continuing to tap the version number does eventually work. On first look, I couldn't see the icon either. But you're right, it's tiny and is located in the centre of the three icons in "straighten".
