Hi guys,
I have a really weird problem.
Since last week, shortly after I updated my phone, I have had complaints from people I call to, that they hear themselves talking to me, an echo of them voice.
I have the phone from February and before that I did not have such a problem until last week.
I shook myself in various forums, but I do not find a similar problem and its solution. Please help, because it is terribly annoying. As a primary solution, I have reduced my microphone to a minimum and so the echo is very weak and almost invisible, but from the other side do not hear me very well.

My wife is having the same issue with her S21 plus and she uses the phone for business. It happened after a system update.   Her phone is not connected to Microsoft my phone or anything like that. She has a case on it but that doesn't seem to be the issue because before the update she had the case on it and there were no problems.   I disabled the phone companion app if that is what previously was being mentioned.  Will try turning off WiFi calling but we really need it because cell service isn't the greatest where we live.

Samsung, this is very disappointing and needs to be fixed immediately please.

Previously, I update all my apps as well as the apps in the Galaxy Store. This appeared to fix the issue, but only temporarily as the issue came back again. Absolutely unacceptable, a class action lawsuit is in order.

Hello mcaspe1.   From both this forum and others I've read, the biggest help in getting rid of the self-echoing that the person on the other side of the phone hears, falls into 2 categories - both of which have worked for me, but are semi-temporary in nature.

(1) The single biggest problem causation seems to be when using WiFi calling.   Now, when using your speakerphone mode, the effect seems to be worse.  If you don't use the speakerphone, the problem is reduced, but doesn't disappear.   As others have discovered here, rebooting the phone apparently makes the problem go away for some finite period of time.

(2) Going back to cellular calling, that is, turning off the WiFi calling mode, gets rid of the problem, but now introduces the problem of many of us not having enough cell signal strength to maintain a call.

(3) I did read about turning off the Microsoft Phone Companion app, but haven't had a chance to try out that little trick...although I have my personal doubts on that one based on the first two items above.

I did see the reference earlier to the phone case.  I don't think that echo is the one we're talking about here.  In other words, not exactly the same problem.

And finally, my wife and I both have the same model phone, and both have the same problem, not to mention all the others on this digest.  So, it is a real Samsung problem.  New "security" update was installed today (under Verizon), so I don't know how that will affect things.  Currently, I've run about 2 weeks now using WiFi call without complaints.  Be interesting to see how long this lasts.

Having the same issue. I thought it was something wrong on the other end because I didn't hear it on my end. But, after complaints from several different people, it's definitely something on my end. Very annoying because I hate when I hear myself echo on the line. Please get this issue fixed!

Minor update, regarding the use of Microsoft's Phone Companion app (aka "Your Phone")....I waited until the echoing problem occurred again, then turned off this feature.  It made no difference.

Its a conflict between the bottom speaker and microphone. They could fix it with an update and they pretend they did, but it's not fixed for all type of phone call. I am on samsung s10+. I made multiple test. I DO NOT USE SIM CARD. I only make call via internet application voip call. On one of the app I have to turn the speaker ON because the sound will stop being recorded from the bottom speaker. On the s21 it has to be something similar, but i can't tell exactly. On the s10 its definitely the bottom microphone conflicting with the speaker and sending the voice back. I called samsung but the service is so bad they telling me to bring to phone to a samsung center to have the phone checked for hardware issue. The thing is on another phone call app they use both speaker all the time or it has different setting according to microphone and speaker usage.

For exemple I purchase a Omen Blast gaming headset from HP and the microphone have a conflict with the speaker. The microphone constantly interfere with whatever is coming out from the speakers.

Voip call application has echoing cancelation options, but it is not software. I can turn echo canceling ON and OFF and there is also a 2e degree voice canceling and a 3rd degree for extreme cases. NONE OF THESE OPTIONS FIXED THE ECHO.

AGAIN: for s10 its is a conflict of the BOTTOM speaker and microphone interfering together. It is 95% chance the same thing on S21.

For s21 turning wifi calling OFF may fix th3 issue. I guess it changes the way your phone call application uses the mic and speaker.

I hope an expert technician from samsung read this a bring a definitive fix with his team. This is a very sad issue for such good phones

For mine it works regardless of the speaker phone or not.  For my wife, she never uses speaker phone and it still effects her phone even after the suggested solved problem.  It would work for a couple days then comes back but still only on wifi.  You turn it off and it works fine.   Still no resolution.

Yeah - about that resolution - I suspect all their engineers have been assigned to working the bugs out of the newly released S22 series.  To heck with our problem.  Be interesting to see if the S22 winds up with the same problem.
