Original Photos Disappear After Saving an Edited Version

I accepted an update to my phone yesterday, and now when I edit any photos, the original disappears. It's not even in the trash. It's just gone. It never did this before. Indeed, I could edit a photo or crop it etc... a hundred times and save it and it would never eliminate the previous version of the photo. Is there a setting somewhere that needs to be reset??

It's just one more thing to remember with a new phone as well !!!!

Absolutely, I would much rather have the freedom to decide which photos I want to keep and delete!

Same with tags. In the beginning we could use real SENTENCES to describe our photos. Then that ability disappeared, along with ALL the descriptions I already had written on my photos, and I am then forced to use "Tags".  At that time tagging a photo was within the field of each individual photo and I could put in several. NOW, all my previous tags have vanished, and in order to tag a photo I must click "edit" for the whole album and make a tag for the individual photo from there, with EXTRA STEPS. In addition, I CAN'T See ANY of the tags I've applied to  the newer photos either! What the heck is going on???  And how can one POSSIBLY REMEMBER all the words they've used to describe/label their older photos in order to REDO ALL OF THEM.  This will take MASSIVE amounts of time and effort as well as anxiety. 

And I thought my photos were safe.......

Let's face it. There is no freedom for regular people as we are all at the mercy of programmers in EVERYTHING ELECTRONIC.

I don't have a photo editor app...... so yes, it IS a Gallery issue.

I should be able to decide on my own whether or not MY Gallery is "cluttered".  I sure don't like someone deciding FOR me. Everyone is different. Some save many photos whereas some save less. There is always a warning if one is close to exceeding the allotted storage space so deletion can be done.

What are we? Children??!

There even isnt the 3 dot option its only revert or save
