galaxy s10 new message display

i updated the messages app recently. since I only get a "new message" notification on locked screen. whereas before it would show me the senders name and the message. has anybody else had this and is there a way to get it back. update feels like a step backwards, not impressed at all ☹️

@PaulEgan-74: Please try heading to Settings > Notifications > Lock screen notifications > Cards > Show content > Tap the cog to the right > Ensure that your preferred Messages app is toggled on.

thank you for your reply Andrew. I've tried your suggestion. however when I go into notifications, there is no lock screen notification option 🤔

I guess you have Android 11.

Try  Settings >Lock screen > Notification >On ,tap notification and choose details or icons only. That's how it  looks on Android 10, perhaps on Android 11 too
