5Ghz hotspot channel change problem

5Ghz hotspot is invisible in EU, because my s10e (exynos version form europe distribution) generates wifi at 149 (US high band 3) channel. In EU, devices can only detect channels 36-48 (low band 1).  Is there any way to change manually 5Ghz channel to low band 1?

I too agree that this is beyond a joke in 2023. For this very reason I can't connect my Samsung smart tv which has 5ghz wifi. To my galaxy s23 phone using 5ghz WiFi because my eu spec phone transmits its hotspot in part 5ghz band that the tv simply connot receive. Also to transmit on channel 149 on the 5ghz wifi band c in the uk requires a £50 license from ofcom. This will probably be the same across Europe. Well i dont have a license and samsung dont mention it in their terms and conditions so i put it to you all......Do we have a WiFi gate for Samsung like dieselgate for vw? European devices should use the common European frequency band A which is also license exempt. Channel 149 is band C and requires a license to use in the UK. Oh dear Samsung.......... Any class action lawyers want to make a mint? I'll be calling ofcom tomorrow!

found this thread now after searching the whole net.

this is a clomplete mess and illegal behavior by samsung.    channel 149 is allowed in some eu states yes but only with very limited transmit power and the samsung phones are transmitting at much higher power than allowed.

european customers have a right to get a working device with workin features on it.

devices are promoted with 5hgz wifi.  ok then get ur sh.. right samsung.  because sendind on channel 149 is not a working solution. its complete *****.   devices  in europe are channel 36-140 not 149!  149 is just for ultra low power!!

this needs to be escalated on highest level so it gets fixed!!! period

My understanding of this issue is that the 5ghz WiFi radio is a part of the Exynos chipset, and cannot be configured for new frequencies via software.

I would not buy another Exynos powered phone, it's an inferior product compared to the Snapdragon version, and Samsung knows this, it's just cheaper to sell their own in house products to you.

dont know if its hardcoded or a technical limitation of the chipset.

intresting thing, in general with my phone:  i have not to use the trick some people use to see other networks.
(the one where people go into flight mode then reboot the phone and then they can see all available networks cuz sim country code not active)   (thats only the workaround for connecting to available networks..)

1)
the workaround above is not possible for creating a mobile hotspot on the phone because flightmode has to be off to create a mobile hotspot via the phone.

2) i have not flashed the phone with another firmware to check if its then possible to change the 5hgz wifi channel to another one.

3) if its possible to connect to other 5ghz freq. networks the chipset also should be able to create mobile hotspots @ other freqs.  so i think its a firmware thing.

and its a fu.. shame samsung just gives a sh... because. the problem is here since years now.  channel 149 is used in china and the us ... but in europe its only allowed  for ultra low power wifi.  this is a clear violation and it also creates massive problems for people using their phones to provide other items with wifi, cuz they then can only use the 2.4ghz band instead of the 5ghz cuz samsung is doin such bs.

as i wrote this has to be escalated because for europeans its like a complete product failure.....  whole feature not useable also reg. notbooks. because people often have to edit the registry etc. on there devices so the networkadapter can see the samsung mobile hotspot.

another intresting thing:  apple does not have such crappy problems.
so samsung has to explain and fix this whole mess.
