Wrong mobile phone number in Samsung settings

Why is the mobile phone number on my Samsung settings not the same as my actual mobile phone number?

@lainds The number you're seeing under the SIM is the number originally assigned to that SIM card. Not to worry though, this will not affect using your phone or change your actual contact number.

I had the same problem as you after porting my number over to EE from BT I phoned EE after searching on the Internet for a solution where I saw 1 reply saying ask your new provider to do a network re-set and then switch off your phone and when you turn it back on in your settings- about phone it will have the number you ported over and not the original number that was on the new sim you received.
