WiFi Calling - Android 11

If you had WiFi calling before Android 11 update and its missing now, this is probably because you had the SIM in the phone during the install. (I know it sounds daft).

Restart the phone without the SIM card, after restart put back your SIM and you should find WiFi Calling menu item on Phone app Settings.

I have used this method on an unlocked S20 on O2 and its worked for me.

Thanks for your suggestion, I've just tried it as per instructions but when I opened settings to turn on wifi-calling it wasn't there so I reinserted the sim and then it appeared. So, while I was convinced it was the software update from Samsung, I'm now thinking that it may be a network issue. I'll give my service provider a call and see what they say. I'm open to other suggestions in the meantime. Thanks again

I experienced the loss of wifi calling as you describe at about the same time after the update to Android 11 on a Samsung A51 5G. Spent time with AT&T and was referred to Samsung specialist.  They could not solve it. My wife's phone of the exact same model behaved the same way.

I just stumbled on the workaround.  Turn Off Wifi in settings. Then enable Wifi Calling in settings. Acknowledge the warning that wifi needs to be On before wifi calling will work and proceed to enable wifi calling. It will spin a while and then the wifi calling toggle button will be On with Wifi Off.  Toggle Wifi back On and Wifi Calling will be shown as enabled in Status Bar.

I also see that Advanced messaging is not working even though settings indicates that it is.  No "Delivered" or "Read" statuses are being received. Message details show the texts are going out and being received as regular SMS messages.

I had the same problem when I updated my Galaxy 10e to Android 11. None of these fixes made a scrap of difference so I asked a phone-repairer to 'mend it'. Rather than charging me, this is what he said. These are his exact words cut and pasted from his email.

Go to settings>connections>mobile networks>access point names>add

Name: ims
APN: ims
APN type: ims (delete “default” that was written at the beginning)
APN protocol: IPv6

Click save

As soon as I had done that, wifi-calling worked immediately without any SIM swapping or re-booting. I have no idea what all that 'ims' stuff is about but it worked on my Galaxy 10e. Hopefully it will work on other models too. It is very easy to undo if it doesn't work for you.

Hi, I have the exact same problem with the same phone. I literally only updated last week.

Have you managed to fix this?
