You are likely to have put your SIM into slot 2 if you only have a single SIM.

I have SIM cards in both slots and it's Vodafone in 2nd but being on roaming or doesn't support calls over WiFi. Still i don't see 1 or 2 on any of the icons.

The icon only appears at random. It isn't showing at the moment and I am sitting in exactly the same spot as I took the screen shot earlier today. Riddle me that 😞

The icon will only show up if your SIM in Slot 2 doesn't have a calls signal and is connected to WiFi calling.

Like others have said. It is to signify that the sim in slot 2 is connected to wifi calling, if sim card in slot one was active with wifi calling then it would have a 1 next to it.... the symbol only appears when the phone thinks the connection needs the boost of wifi calling.. you can change that slightly by changing the wifi calling setting to wifi calling preferred. The only other time the 2 symbol will appear is if you are using an esim.. the phone defaults to 2 even if you are not using a physical sim card...
