Hi, just wondering why in the UK Calendar that St. Patrick's Day and St. George's Day are marked for Ireland and England, but no St. David's Day for Wales. Its actually celebrated quite widely here and its disappointing not to see it.

You are right @WillMag01. I have lived in North Wales for 31 years now and it is celebrated widely indeed. Especially at schools. I have Irish ancestry also, so Saint Patrick's day is always an excuse to crack open a Guinness or four in our house!..😛😛🤣🤣. It is strange why it is not marked on UK calendars though and a little disappointing, but if calendar makers overlook St David's day that is their loss. We will keep celebrating it just as hard!. 👍👍

it  is a bit of an omission for St David's Day (1 March)  , St  Andrews' Day for Scotland (30 November is on the calendar) along with English (23 April) and Irish (17 March)  Days.

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.

Hi there, @WillMag01. I have looked into this matter. As I understand it, this is simply because St David's Day is not classified as a public holiday at present, and is classified as a religious event.

Calendar data are pre-programmed by our developers with recognised public holidays within a particular region. This would also happen in the event that St David's Day, whilst a very significant and celebrated day, is classified as a public holiday at a later juncture. The categorisation may change in the future.

In the meantime, you may wish to manually add this date/event to your Samsung Calendar.

I hope this helps. 👍

Thank you for looking into it. Wales are always the tail end, so shouldn't really be surprised 😄. I would be surprised if anyone has the other Saints days off as Public Holidays though. If I said it was racist, would you have to put it on, as we are the only UK country whose national saints day is not represented? Just asking 😂

You're welcome, @WillMag01. I appreciate where you are coming from. This is largely down to classification. St Patrick's Day, for instance, is a public holiday in the Republic of Ireland. Admittedly, St George's Day is not a public holiday.

From looking into this further, the key distinction with St David's Day at present is that it is classified as a religious event. I absolutely appreciate that you would like to see this very important event appearing on your Samsung Calendar.

If you wish, I can forward your suggestion to our Research and Development Team.

Certainly, @WillMag01. I've noted your suggestion and, once I hear back from the Research and Development Team, I will update the thread accordingly. 👍

Hello again, @WillMag01. I hope that you are keeping well. I just wanted to update you, as I have now heard back from the Research and Development Team.

The team has emphasised that it does not provide local events because it does not have a database: the data syncs with Google's public holiday data. If you add a Google account to your Samsung Calendar, you can bring a local event from your Google Calendar and it will show it to you.

Therefore, I think it would be best to forward your suggestion to Google's own developers. I imagine that the more people who request the inclusion of St David's Day on Google's Calendar, the more likely/readily it will be incorporated.

I hope this helps.
