I posted about this just over two years ago, and then after a Google search about the topic today ironically the first post I came across was my very own ha ha!!

So please read on, but I have since added an S23U, S24U and Tab S9U into the mix, but have the exact same issue, I just explain it better bellow:

Hi all,

Well the title says it all really.

When taking 1080p/4K/8K video on my Samsung phone, it looks great on the device when playing it back.

Then after a short period of time, the videos/photos in the gallery get uploaded via Samsung's cloud subscription service (OneDrive) to other devices I am signed into.

 All great so far right?

Then when using a different device, specifically my Samsung Tab S8 Ultra, I go to look at those same videos (which were super crisp on the original device) but on the tablet via cloud stream....well.... potato quality isn't a stretch.

Occasionally it's looks at best around 720p, but then drops to 240p, maybe less, then playback stops while it buffers, and again we are the.n back to 720p for about 2secs before it needs to buffer again, lastly the quality drops so low, I just give up.

So I'm using devices like the S21 Ultra, S22 Ultra & Tab S8 Ultra.....all premium devices from Samsung.

I'm paying a subscription fee for this cloud service.

I am on a home network, with a 1Gbps fiber connection through an ASUS GT-AXE1100 using WiFi 6E to all my mentioned devices.

So why, in 2022 when network streaming is such a huge thing, am I getting a such terrible service?

Why is the quality so ***** poor, and why am I being charged a fee for it? This is awful.

Yes, I can download the images or videos, but again, it's extremely slow.

 Something is wrong.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm very happy to jump ship to another provider if it offers a similar streamlined service in the gallery, but far better performance.

I'm extremely disappointed in this product and service from Samsung & Microsoft, I expect much better.

------

Hey I'm back, so after reading all of the above, what are your thoughts?

Why is this cloud service so terrible in every way possible?

Why can't we change providers?

Why do I keep buying Samsung products, expecting them to change? Answer to that is that I'm probably an absolute mug.

Anyway, I appreciate you reading this far, I really really do. If your someone who works at Samsung though...please send them this, or get someone to pull their finger out of their backside and fix it.

Kindest regards to all

Love moi

I do have a very large NAS server that ALL my content is stored too, but a cloud backup is also worthwhile incase something severe happens to my NAS.

Part of the 3-2-1 system or whatever its called.

Well yeah as noted sherlock.

But it's called Samsung Cloud when on any device, but the service is provided through Onedrive....and it's Sh1t.

That said, it's good to have cloud backup as well as local.

That's all fine and good if you agree to allow the provider to sift through your private files. I totally understand that we were somehow made dependent on their services out of convenience

It's still called Samsung Cloud TODAY....but provided by Microsoft Onedrive.

I'm aware of the Jargon....but I'm not after smart arses providing menial replies (unavoidable, I guess)

Actually, posting 3 threads has provided me with more replies than 1 thread I did two years ago.

I wish Samsung offered a direct option within the Gallery.

So your complaint is with Microsoft then.....

Maybe try reaching out to them with your issue as Samsung no longer offer a cloud storage service?

I suspect the offering is two tier. I myself pay for Google One and chose the option for images and videos to kept their original settings. There was an option to save more images but at a lower resolution.......

Maybe you did this with Samsung Cloud or One Drive back in the day?

Yeah totally one of them things. I'm very very protective over my privacy, and go to lengths that most would probably think is over the top.

Incogni saved me time, run my own DNS and Wireguard plus Crypto VPNs, and then all the usual privacy stuff.

This though is a convenience thing, and sometime you just have to give a bit, like you mention.

I do have it all saved on my NAS as mentioned, but Samsungs insistence on Gallery backup only through Ondrive is frustrating seen as the service is so poor. Ironically, when playing videos through the onedrive app, it's much better.

So somewhere between the Samsung and Microsoft then back to user pipeline, somethings wrong.

I learnt a new thing now. If it is based on OneDrive, why don't you download the OneDrive app, use it directly and cut the middle man (Samsung cloud) loose? 😁
