The Samsung browser V17 is unable to update on Android OS V11. the play store says no lo ger compatible, the Samsung app store doesn't have an update available, even though the browser says there is an update available. not sure where the error is lying if on Google or Samsung side. haven't had response from Samsung yet

Maybe your phone is no longer supported. My bf often has a Google app and Google maps update notifications but his phone and OS is no longer supported but he refused to update his phone. He's on 5.0 I know he'll have to update eventually . With your phone and having an A 12 it should be able to update. I would uninstall the Samsung Internet browser updates and then reinstall them. Go to settings>app management >Samsung browser>3 dots in top right>uninstall updates. Then go to either Google play or Samsung store then update the browser. I have had to do that with some other apps. Hope this works for . you
