Hello,
I recently purchased a new Galaxy S23 and need to record something that includes both visuals and sound. However, when I select the "Sound" option in the Screen Recorder, it fails to capture the app's audio (see attached image).
A few notes:
- I know the "Media & Mic" option works, but that's not ideal for me. I need to record in a busy environment and only want the app's sound in the recording, without any background noise.
- I have completed all updates, including the OS and Samsung apps, and I’ve also restarted the device.
- Additionally, I've tried third-party screen recording apps like "Xrecorder," but the issue persists there as well.
Thank you for your assistance!

Hey @mbabamahmoudi
Just so I'm getting this right, when you select the 'Media' option when screen recording, the sound is not recorded? I've just tried using the feature, and I was able to record audio and visual when selecting the 'Media' option. When making recording, is the sound enabled on the video?
Also, when you head into the Gallery app, tap on the recording > Play > Ensure the muted Sound icon (bottom right) is not enabled. If it is, simply tap on it again to enable sound.

Hello @KholaI ,
Yes, all the sound levels are maximum. And during the recording I can hear the application sound. Also in the gallery I've checked that the sound button is unmuted. Still no sound! Please see the video attached:
- Chapters
- descriptions off, selected
- captions settings, opens captions settings dialog
- captions off, selected

Now I'm doubting this might be an issue related to Android 14. I did the exact same test with a Pixel phone on Android 14 and faced the issue. Can someone confirm if they can record videos with Media Sound option on Android 14?

Thanks for sharing that. I've had another go at this and I was able to capture sound when using other apps, but not with the Google Maps app, which leads me to believe the sound is not being recorded due to the app settings. With this in mind, I'd definitely advise reaching out to Google customer service, to see if they're able to provide you with more information on this.

Very Interesting! I was doing this test on 2 navigation applications google maps and Waze and both don't have a sound. But now I see other applications like Telegram, Youtube have sound.
Now I'm wondering maybe the issue is that the sound output on navigation apps comes from the device Text-to-Speech engine and that's where screen recorder app can't record the sound.
