No WhatsApp pop-up notifications

I'm wondering if anybody else's WhatsApp has stopped showing pop-up/ bubble notifications..

When I go to settings on what's app it says that it's no longer supported on your phones android version.

I'm finding it very annoying because it's my main app for messaging and so on. The only way I can see is there's any messages, is by loading the app all the time. 

I'm on the latest updates from Samsung and WhatsApp for the Samsung S21.

I'm also having same issues with S23 ultra. when my screen is locked, I don't get notifications when calls are coming in except when my screen is unlock and on WhatsApp. I initially thought it was the phone but obviously now but has to do with WhatsApp.

Mine did sort itself out and I'm still none the wiser to what happened.
