My Files doesn't show any files in the DCIM folder

This seems to be the opposite of the problem most people have - if I connect my phone to my computer I can see all my photos in "SD Card\DCIM\Camera" no problem. However, when I run My Files on the phone itself it shows the DCIM folder as empty, although other apps such as Gallery work fine.

Any suggestions?

Ok, I powered off, removed the SD card (gave it a little clean :)) put it back and powered up. It made no difference. I can see all the other files and folders, but DCIM insists that it's empty.

@PaulM1 are you still on the case or is this one a lost cause 😞 ?

I'm with you, @DaveTheMidge. Please can you check the following?:

1) Please check whether there is an update for My Files on Galaxy Store. If there is, please download, install this, and check whether this makes a difference.

2) If no update is available, I recommend clearing the cache for My Files using the steps in the following guide: https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-clear-the-cache-on-my-device/

3) If the issue persists, please submit an Error report using the steps provided in this guide: https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-use-the-samsung-members-app/

Please let me know when you get this resolved. 👍

Thanks @PaulM1 . Clearing the My Files cache didn't do any good. There don't seem to be any updates on Play Store (oddly Play Store shows the latest version as 13.1.01.321, while my phone shows the installed version to be 14.4.00.2 - go figure!). I've posted an error report so we'll see what happens. Thanks for your time (are you a Samsung support person or just a helpful user?)

My guess is that the SD card is formatted with a file system not compatible with android. Probably ntfs.

Would that not affect all folders, not just the dcim folder?

Not necessarily. Android seems to be able to navigate the folder structure of unsupported file systems but not to view its files

Ok, well my SD card is quite new and I'm pretty sure it's formatted correctly, but just to be sure how would I check?

Searching the web, it seems that Android will not use NTFS at all. I have a Sandisk for Samsung, and I'm pretty sure it was pre-formatted, probably exFAT. However, I can't find anything that tells me how to check the format. Does anyone know?
