Mobile data connectivity issues when using gmaps

I was wondering if someone else has this issue. When I use Google maps in areas with varying data networks my phone seems to lock itself to whatever network it had when I started using Google maps. This affects the whole phone while Google maps is running and using data (eg, searching or guiding thru a route). Once the app is stopped normal connectivity function is restored. This also happens during a phone call using the oneui native phone app.

I experienced this most recently yesterday while using Google maps to guide me to the parking location of my car through a busy town centre. I arrived there using waze which didnt seem to trigger the issue to occur, though this was while driving to the city, a use case for which the issue doesn't occur as reliably when using Google maps.

Hi and Welcome.

I usually download Offline Google Maps for the whole area I normally use.

This helps with areas where there is poor mobile reception.

Not a direct solution but no harm trying

When in Google Maps > Click your profile photo (top right) > offline Maps and zoom in or out depending how much area you want.

Hey, thanks. Yeah I usually do the same but the issue occurs regardless. In my experience Google maps wont use offline maps unless there is no network connectivity at all. Also, if i try to search for say parking or post offices nearby it wont use offline maps and the locking issue occurs

I also have location always ON for Google maps instead of 'when app open only'

Could be some network connection settings or Google maps issues.

I am presuming all your apps are upto to date from both Google and Samsung store

I have 2g turned on. Roaming is turned off as I am using domestic networks and I'm not in a roaming area
