Make it possible to adjust the clock app morning alarm volume without it going off

It hurts when I try to set up an alarm in the middle of the night and it goes off in full volume when I try to change how loud it will be. The only way I can slightly lower the volume in small increments is if I tap the volume button and immediately press "Save" before it starts to ring, but sometimes im not fast enough and it still goes off. Maybe add an option in the settings or a seperate volume slider?
