@grumpyguy: Please can you confirm which app you were using to create and store your diary content? In the meantime, please try swiping up from your Home Screen > Samsung (folder) > My Files > Tap the 3 dots in the top right > Recycle Bin, and check to see if the files have found their way here. If they have, press and hold on a file, tap on any others (or hit 'All' in the top left) and select Restore at the bottom of the screen.
