My Samsung S20+ 5G was stolen on Thursday. I was able to see that it had been backed up that morning including the pictures and apps. I spoke to someone from Samsung on Thursday and they told me to deregister my phone from my account. I now have a Samsung S24+ and now am unable to restore any backups as they say they dont exist. PLEASE tell me theres a way to get the data as all my pictures from my wedding and engagement are on there and nowhere else. I used Samsung Cloud but its not there either. PLEASE this would not have happened has someone from samsung technical support not told me to deregister my stolen phone.

I highly recommend you to invest in a cloud service to store your important documents/images on, wether it be onedrive/google or another 3rd party. I hope you find a way to resolve this and im sorry this has happened to you.

I believe it only backups apps and settings at most.
For photos and stuff it pushes to use Microsoft One drive which would be under your Hotmail account or you go for other services like Google One which should be under your Gmail account.
If your photos aren't on there then you haven't been syncing them and it's a lost case.
Also you should have logged in on your Samsung account in Web and blocked your phone if you had find my phone ON.
Hence forth always back up to a cloud service like Google One which I highly recommend the bottom tier is very cheap and worth its weight in gold .
