Hi there,
I am new in Android world. I used to receive iOS updates about few minutes after they released (or even SECONDS if Apple servers not slow down).
Now I got Galaxy S20 5G and I know there are delays with receiving security updates - like NOT seconds or minutes - but like days, weeks and even months!
Currently I know Pixel 3,4 and 5 received 1 April 2021 update....... on 1 April....... Samsung...... well - it is 8th April - silence - no update - there are news people with S20 started to receive it yesterday - me........ NOTHING.
Is it because I have O2 network branding in it?
Thank You and wish me luck - I will need it to receive that update

Samsung should put this on the box to STOP SCAM people.
There are people who tell me it is just beginning of my problems with Samsung

As I said - I use multiple "money handling" apps where I keep my life savings - I've spent £1000 on flagship the most known Android brand smartphone and now this is how they treat their customers.
I would not care about any updates if I would be stupid teenager with £10 on bank account.

Why make a drama out of nothing? You are being ridiculous, what's more J@oeeye does not deserve the abuse in your last message. He is trying to help and you act like a petulant child. You can expect delays when you choose to have a carrier branded device. It is well known that Google devices which are pure Android get the updates first, then other manufacturers release theirs some time after. There are many Android models that this has to be adapted for whereas it is the same OS for iPhone. It hardly takes a modicum of intelligence to realise because of this non Pure Android devices will be later in getting updates. When there is branded firmware there will be a further delay. You chose to get your phone from O2 so they are responsible for the updates. A bit more research and you wouldn't be in this position.
If you read what is in the security patch there is little to be concerned about. Do you really think you are massively at risk just because one or two tweaks have been made?? I think you have an over active imagination.
I suggest you go back to iPhone and learn some manners.

Just to add a bit to the points already covered, obviously it is advisable to do some research before deciding on your device rather than being surprised afterwards. Actually the S20 has a Super Data Security chip which keeps user Data safer compared to its predecessors. https://www.neowin.net/news/samsung-galaxy-s20-comes-with-a-dedicated-security-chip/ Security patches will be a bit later but this will not have a major impact, if that important to you then the Pixel should be the choice for Android devices. However overall the Galaxy S20 is clearly a superior device in terms of display and processing power. With this year's models the S21 rates pretty high for security features on an Android https://www.techradar.com/uk/news/google-pixel-5-vs-samsung-galaxy-s20
In terms of Android v ios most analysts would still say Apple phones are more secure but the difference seems to be less pronounced nowadays. https://www.forbes.com/sites/zakdoffman/2021/03/16/iphone-12-pro-max-and-iphone-13-not-more-secure-t...
