How to make nagivation bar transparent

Is there a way to make the navigation bar transparent? I have changed my navigation bar so it's a horizontal line rather than the three buttons, but I am still left with a black line in either side of the navigation bar. Is there a way to make it completely transparent, so only the horizontal home line shows but not anything to the side of it?

Go to settings -> display -> navigation bar -> select swipe gestures -> more options and there select "swipe from sides or bottom"

Tried navstar but it doesn't have a horizontal line-type navigation bar. It's still buttons
