For some reason I can't send any kind of message to a particular contact if I don't connect to the Internet. The send button is faded out and I can't press it

I have 'Chat' messages turned on, but the same occurs when it's turned off.

Any ideas or similar issues?

If you're not connected to the internet then you won't be able to access the service.

Lot of communication apps requires internet.

Shouldn't it just be text messages though? It's the normal Samsung messages app

Rubbish, if I wanted to use the Internet I'd use WhatsApp! Thanks anyway

You still need internet to be able use the service whether it's wifi ot data. Internet is needed.

I advise to speak to customer service.

In the Samsung Messages app is the default message type set to chat?

[Samsung Messages] > Settings > Chat settings > Default Message Type.

If so, try setting it to Automatic or Text or Multimedia and see it that helps.

Default is set to text/multimedia, and I've managed to send a text message, but somehow only if I have 'Chats' turned on AND Internet. If I turn either one off I can't send 🤔

Go to:

Settings > Connections > More Connection Settings

And see if you have an option called Rich Communications, if so try turning it off.
