App using data every 6 hours

Greetings! We have Samsung Galaxy J7 phones. Something is using data every 6 hours and we can't figure out what it is. We don't have more than a couple apps we've installed and we've turned off background data. There are dozens of other preinstalled apps and processes, and we've tried to delete them or turn them off. Some Google apps cannot be removed, and there are Android and Samsung processes we don't understand. The bottom line is, does anyone know what would be using data at 6 am, noon, 6 pm, and midnight every day? Thanks!

Maybe the auto date and time syncing periodically.
What are you using to check exactly when the data is being used.

Hi Shazzkid, We have Consumer Cellular who tracks all usage. They can give the date, time, and amount of usage, but no identification.

I did just discover the Google and Samsung b/u options and turned them off. It's about .5 - .8 MB each time.

that's very low amount of data, if turning the back off does not change it, you will prob find it's just your phone checking for updates etc. expect for turning you phone in to aeroplane mode it will always use some data. is there a reason for concern for it using less than 1mb data?

Hi Bwillg, It's just that it has pushed us over our data usage limit; that little bit, 4x a day, 30x a month, adds up. Not a life-or-death situation. I'll keep an eye on. You've satisfied mu curiosity, both of you! Thanks!

ah that is annoying. Well another option is to set data limit on phone. not sure what version android it uses but generally it's settings, connections, data usage then its either called data saver or data limit. if you set that to just below your allowance. this will stop any background data usage when you get to the set limit.
