RSH1DBRS noises the not cold

Last week our fridge freezer was making loud whirring noise which stopped abruptly when the fridge door was opened.  I switched off for 24 hrs which fixed it for a while but now only the freezer half is working (-18) but the fridge is room temp.  The light still works.

It's 9 yrs old.  is it worth calling an engineer or is it time to buy a new one?

It's a large upright twin door American style with water and ice dispensers.

I have this problem with fridge freezer i purchased  in 2017 thought it had a 5 year warranty but no only 2 years yet 5 years on models RFG23UERS purchased after 2018 noise is awful can hear it upstairs we have always purchased Samsung but never again paid £1600 for fridge only to last 3 years customer service no help either.
