Hi all!

I have recently purchased a Samsung RS68A884C American fridge freezer, and am loving it so far!

However, the ice maker keeps turning itself on... It doesn't seem to matter if I switch it off via the control panel or the SmartThings app, by the next day it has switched itself back on... Anyone else have a similar experience? How do I get it to stay switched off until I actually want it on?

Many thanks!

I realize this is an old post but I have the same problem.  I think Samsung has used flawed logic on this issue.  I do not want the ice maker to turn back on when I turn it off.  I live alone, do not use much ice so I turn it off until I have company coming.  Otherwise the ice gets stale, shrinks and fuses together and then needs to be discarded.  @Samsung if you monitor this thread, please provide a firmware update that will allow the owner to change the behavior of the ice maker so that it can be turned off and not automatically turn itself back on.

Just inherited a 2021, 3 door fridge and noticed the same thing! It won't stay off and automatically keeps turning back on. Super lame. I prefer to manage my ice.

Side note if anyone is still following this thread. Does anyone here use RO water as a source? My ice taste bad. I removed the filter which bypasses it. The water tastes great but the ice still tastes funky. Never had this problem with my 10+ year old GE Profile that this fridge replaced.

Its 2025 and issue is still there. Ice maker is getting jammed when there is a lot of ice in it, its just not possible to get any ice from it, cubed or crushed. Not good Samsung, not good at all. Extra money spent for nothing

Update: after about a month since I've had the fridge, my ice now tastes great! I guess it just really had to get that funk out. Took a bit of time to cycle. The person before me never changed the filter and the old ice was sitting in there for months untouched I think.
