My machine WW90T534DAW has the ECO 40-60'c cycle, I have never used it, but as far as I can see it chooses the temperature of the water as to how dirty/soiled the clothes are , so if not dirty it chooses 40'c and if dirty then heats up the water to 60'c - have I got that right.

However my model WW90T534 (which is the cheapest version of the range) does not have a Turbidity sensor fitted in it ...... so how can it possibly measure how  dirty the clothes/water is without that sensor in/on the wash drum?

It's a mess of a programme. It's designed to wash clothes that can be washed at 40⁰C or 60⁰C, but the machine rarely heats above 35⁰C. It's an eco wash and makes up for the lower temperatures by washing for longer and doing faster tumbles.

For a smaller load, the machine heats to around 20-25⁰C. I'm assuming it's because there's more room for the laundry to move about freely, unlike for a full load. I've used it once and hated it. Rinsing is about as bad as it can get - low levels, slow tumbles. Spinning is the only positive and is basically the Towels final spin but without the speed spray (mine has it, but never helps as it sprays the door glass).

Even on my machine which has the turbidity sensor, it only gets used on the AI Wash/Auto Optimal Wash programme. Maybe Drum Clean too as it never takes the full 2:23 cause I do hot washes often and the machine never gets mouldy. I'm assuming the machine checks for the soil level there too. But that's it. It does, however, mean that if the sensor happens to fail, most programmes can still be used, and considering that the auto wash is heavily based on a Cotton 40⁰C wash, it could be worse tbh.

Have you tried seeing if you can turn that spray nozzle around and point the spray towards the clothes and not towards the glass of the door? - i wonder if that can be done? - my machine does not have that feature so i cannot check on mine.

I've tried doing that and it barely helps sadly. That said, at least it keeps the door seal clean and rinses away the suds that would otherwise stay on the seal.
