Hello
I have bought my zflip 5 months ago, i have researched for a while because i was aware that the added mechanical components were a risk but I have decided to go with it anyway after being an apple costumer for over 10 years. What a mistake!!!
The only issue I could see people talking about is the fact that hinge is fragile and you need to be careful to not drop the phone on it. Fair enough, i have been so careful with it and obviously never dropped it. But the hinge started to make a popping sound on week two. Not a big deal the phone worked just fine.
5 months on and the charging port magically stopped working when closed.
It started doing something weird where it wouldn't charge unless I took the charger out and flip it around. After few days it completely stopped charging when closed.
It charges when open, and you can see it stopping when you try to close the phone at around half way. Which suggest the hinge is somehow interfering with the port ability to charge.
After a couple of weeks it now started doing the flip the charger trick even when open.
I have found a lot of people having the same issue on reddit but after contacting costumer support they said they never heard of the problem.
I am making this post here so THEY ARE NOW AWARE. If anyone has the same experience feel free to share here so they can read it.
People on reddit said the problem will progress until the screen will also stops working altogether. Which is worrying.
Will have to bring the phone to a store and see if it can be fixed. I hope they are not going to pull a trick on me and expect me to pay for it.
I will be forced to return it after. I simply need a reliable phone. I will be probably switching back to apple not gonna lie. Very sad because I love the aesthetics of the flip 6 😢
