Hello
I have bought my zflip 5 months ago, i have researched for a while because i was aware that the added mechanical components were a risk but I have decided to go with it anyway after being an apple costumer for over 10 years. What a mistake!!!
The only issue I could see people talking about is the fact that hinge is fragile and you need to be careful to not drop the phone on it. Fair enough, i have been so careful with it and obviously never dropped it. But the hinge started to make a popping sound on week two. Not a big deal the phone worked just fine.

5 months on and the charging port magically stopped working when closed.
It started doing something weird where it wouldn't charge unless I took the charger out and flip it around. After few days it completely stopped charging when closed.

It charges when open, and you can see it stopping when you try to close the phone at around half way. Which suggest the hinge is somehow interfering with the port ability to charge.
After a couple of weeks it now started doing the flip the charger trick even when open.
I have found a lot of people having the same issue on reddit but after contacting costumer support they said they never heard of the problem.
I am making this post here so THEY ARE NOW AWARE. If anyone has the same experience feel free to share here so they can read it.
People on reddit said the problem will progress until the screen will also stops working altogether. Which is worrying.
Will have to bring the phone to a store and see if it can be fixed. I hope they are not going to pull a trick on me and expect me to pay for it.
I will be forced to return it after. I simply need a reliable phone. I will be probably switching back to apple not gonna lie. Very sad because I love the aesthetics of the flip 6 😢

The android in the zflip lags, the phone heats up and apps just randomly crash. ( the s24+ got similar issues) My old iPhone 11 NEVER had any problem in the 5 years i had it. So keep telling yourself that haha

Had the same issue. I bought my phone brand new 4 months ago. I took it to Samsung repair (warranty), it looks like a connection in the hinge is broken or something and needs to be replaced. This is why when you close the hinge it gets disconnected. You can try it with USB C storage function as well, as soon as you close it half-way it gets disconnected as if you unplugged your storage. As a long time Samsung user, I have to say this is very disappointing. Especially on a very new phone (never dropped or damaged).

I brought it to samsung for repair and they fixed it
The bits they put are improved from the original model and I don't have any problems now
The hinge also stopped making the noise.
The person that helped me at samsung said they took in the feedback from the first wave of zflip6 and are fixing the issue with different - improved - parts.
It's been 5 months and for now it seems to hold up way better than the og.
But yeah its annoying to go through the process of getting your phone fixed especially because it needs to be wiped.
For over a grand you definitely don't expect this.

Good info on the repair, thanks.  This was something I was actually worried about if they simply replace the same part (that it would fail again soon).

I've yet to get my phone back but I put it on "Maintenance mode" before giving it to the tech and asked them not to wipe (factory reset). The tech agreed not to so hoping they don't.

I had a terrible experience at a samsung affiliate repair shop
They were awful, they wiped my phone even tho i had maintenance mode. They done it even before the diagnostic right in front of me
I had to wait a day because they said they needed a part, I went back to get my phone and when they gave it back it wasn't fixed. I said its literally still not charging, what did you fix?
They just shrugged!!!
I brought it at the actual samsung store and the tech told me they changed the mother board for no reason. Cause the problem was the charging port and the hinge.
He said that it could have voided my warranty if they logged the repair wrong. But thankfully they at least done the paperwork right.
If anyone is reading this just go directly to a samsung store.
The affiliate shop was directed to me from the samsung website so they weren't random people.
It was the most frustrating experience.
I wasted money and hours in travel because both stores were far from me.
The samsung store still re wiped my phone tho. But they told me before doing so.
But if the tech told you yours was fine I'm sure they won't wipe it

Sad, sorry to hear. Definitely sounds like a terrible experience.

I just received my phone back. Charging is now working like normal. I did go directly to a Samsung repair center. Happy to report as well that the technician did not wipe my phone. Hopefully that's the last of this issue.
