Hi all, recently upgraded to the Z Fold 7 coming from s22 Ultra. Whilst loving the new phone I have noticed this with the main screen. When folded it appears the inner screen touches with visible proof of this when opened up again leaving marks where it has been sitting. Is this a normal thing with this phone. The marks can be wiped off as its just oils from the hands after use but even the tiniest of dust particles leaves an imprint in the screen protector. I have also noticed an uneven right side of the display that almost feels lumpy when sliding a finger up and down, around the same place to where it touches the other side.

Thanks for sharing, yes it does look very similar. After having a quick look through that I'm thinking it could be when the phone gets warmer the screen might have slight expansion causing it to touch

Best to talk to Samsung Customer Service, to me it looks damaged, have you cleaned it with something or water damage, very odd 🙏

It wipes off completely fine and goes back to normal, the pattern is just oils from hands on the screen where the two sides of the screen are touching when closed. Just odd that it would even touch in the first place as I thought there should at least be a small gap when shut, it should just be the bezels touching surely.

Ah so it's oil from your hands 🙏

If you touch the screen then that's no got anything to do with a closed gap.

The marks themselves aren't the issue, they just help to see where the screen is touching when folded, you can see it's an almost perfect symmetrical pattern. The right side of the display also feels lumpy around where the pattern appears so the issue is an uneven display that touches when folded and potentially causing issues with trapped dust/dirt

Yes I have one tiny indent on both sides of the screen but I've found that the shallower dents seem to dissappear over a few days.

Online support was absolutely useless so I went to the local samsung store last night and spoke to the manager who also had their engineer look at it and it was the first time they were aware of the issue. They couldn't really recommend any solution unfortunately. However, whilst I was there they had multiple z fold 7 units on display so I had chance to check them out and they were all the same. All had the 'lumpy' feeling right side of the display and all showed signs of marks appearing after being folded for a while but only with a used/unclean screen.

I feel it's going to be a device wide issue and bad quality control on Samsung's part.

With the new slimmer design it is more susceptible to trapping dust/debris and from what I can tell it seems as though the screen ever so slightly bulges in that area just as it's being closed, maybe due to the new hinge design to minimise the crease.

This is my first fold so I can't compare to any previous models but for a 2k phone this shouldn't even be happening.

I'm intrigued as to whether this is acknowledged as a slight fault, or whether it's normal.

I always suspected the latter, because this is common with the pixel 9 pro fold too and it did it with mine. So I wasn't surprised when my fold 7 did too.

Anyone tried speaking to Samsung?
