Z Flip freezes when I close it

Good morning, I have a Samsung Z-Flip 4 for a little more than 1 year. It is updated to the latest update of July 2024. Since yesterday, I am experiencing this problem: when I close it and then reopen it, the screen remains black, it freezes and any buttons I press, the phone does not respond. Even if I double-tap on the external screen nothing happens (usually, instead, the time is displayed). After about 15 to 20 seconds, the phone starts working normally again. I have no recent APPs installed/updated.

This happens to me not 100% of the times I close the screen, but about 60%.

Reading some posts here, I tried to wipe cache partion but nothing changed. I also tried to restart in safe mode (with no apps loaded) and the problem is still there, so I'm pretty sure it's not an APP problem.

Only once I was able to see a screen similar to this one, but it said "User Settings isn't responding". I just waited and, after 15/20 seconds, everything was back to normal.

I'd try a factory reset and restore. Otherwise it'll be a service appointment unfortunately.

It's a known problem with foldable phones you just have to read all the threads on here referring to that issue.

Hi.

I have a Z flip 4, since Dec 2023 and have had the same message and issues. The user interface not loading, as well as yellow bands on the screen. The bands started as wide horizontal bands and then then got smaller and flickered. After a few days the displays wouldn’t work at all

i took the phone back to the retailer and they, before trying to wriggle out of it, sent it back to Samsung. I’ve been waiting almost 4 weeks now but, I think a replacement might be on its way for me. I will update here and see if I can get any answers as to it being a known issue.
