Z Flip 3 main screen malfunctioning - bug?

I've had my Z flip 3 for about three weeks now and I've encountered a strange bug, or i hope it's a bug. Main screen will sometimes malfunction while you either open or close the handset. Less of a problem when closed, but if the malfunctioning happens while opening. Screen won't turn on until you close the phone again or just wait it out for it to"refresh"? I've already got a replacement (i hope so...), which has the exact same problem as the first. Some good answers?

A user in this topic said he was able to fix the issue by uninstalling the One UI Home app on his phone.   Just to update my experience, I went to  Settings-Apps-One UI Home-Three Dots in the upper right hand corner-Uninstall updates.   I also hit "Force Stop".   After you do this you lose a lot of Home screen functionality. The app is needed, so I rebooted my phone and updated the One UI Home App.  This seemed to work for me so far.  I am also pleased that the issue could be related to a software bug vs. a hardware issue where the screen would have to be replaced.   If anyone tries and plays around with the One UI Home app and is successful in solving the issue please post.  Obviously there are a lot of people with the issue and this could be the "solved" answer.

Hey Everyone, I wanted to conclude my experience with this "bug". I sent in my flip 3 to samsung, after review they replaced the screen under warranty. I was excited to get it back and when i did it took about a minute of use to see the problem was still there with the new screen (very poor quality control at their repair center). So i sent it in again and waited 5 days for a reply and didnt get one. So i called samsung and they said they couldnt fix the problem and they were gonna send me a refund of which i received probably another 7 days later. Which tells me they have no idea what it causing this "bug". They refunded me the cost of the phone $999.99, which is nice but i was still out about $140 for the tax i paid when i bought the phone. My advice would be to just return the phone and try to get a refund. I don't think this problem is fixable at this point which is disappointing because I really enjoyed the phone while it was working properly. Best of luck to everyone and maybe avoid flip phones for now.

Hi,

I am also having this issue with my screen. I did figure something out after playing around with my phone. When opening the phone slowly, there was a point when the screen would shut off. When using more of a "flicking" motion to open it, the screen would turn on regularly.

Just to update -- I went through every suggestion Samsung could offer in terms of resolving it on my own (including factory reset), but ultimately they determined it was something they needed to fix for me on their end and I would have to send it in. I actually used a warranty I had with my cell carrier to get a replacement and haven't had trouble since. Good luck!

Exactly what they told me in Madrid main service Center (Corte Ingles Callao),. What was even worse and now i know why , is that they did not even check the problem but went directly to see if there was the slightest mark on the metal part of the hinge. THEY HAVE NOW THIS CRPORATE AGREED WARRANTY VOIDANCE TOOL to JUSTIFY a MANUFACTURING ISSUE - INCREDIBLE , UNBELIEVABLE or WORSE . I have taken pictures and sent them to Samsung, but little faith. As you have well decided it is probably time to go to back to  Iphone.

Pray that you have not a car key scratch on the hinge , or any minimal mark on the anodized surface  , or you will have a great FLip3  - 1000€ paperweight , I cannot afford loosing so many calls everyday beacause of this .

I am replying to myself.   The One UI Home fix did NOT work.  My phone was purchased in the United States and although I had issues in the past I tried one more time for assistance at a nearby UbreakiFix repair location.   To my surprise they were able to successfully replace the screen under warranty.   I then traded in my Flip 3 to Samsung for a Z Flip 4, in order to avoid future anticipated issues.   Obviously the Flip 3 is flawed.  Samsung is giving US based customers a generous trade-in allowance on the Flip 3.   Good luck to Flip 3 owners with this issue going forward and hopefully the Flip 4 has improved hinge and screen quality.   So far I have not read any issues.

Same problem here with the screen, I will not be bother with Samsung anymore I will move to Iphone.  I have already paid 47 Euros for the plastic screen protector that was creased in 4 months and is not covered by the warranty.
