WiFi Calling on WiFi and Mobile Data

This year I moved from an iPhone 12 to Flip Z 5. I didn't expect this would mean I'd lose connectivity when I'm off Wi-Fi, but since Samsung hasn't implemented Wi-Fi calling on data in addition to Wi-Fi that is what happened. I predominantly live abroad and rely on a local pSim and an eSim for my US number. With the iPhone this worked well. Since moving to the Z Flip5 this has been a struggle for me and has added stress in general. I have to constantly worry that I'm missing business calls when I'm not on a Wi-Fi network. I love the phone, but this feature is pretty much a deal breaker. Please update to include it.

Hi, and welcome to the Samsung UK & EU forum! It's always nice to see a new name, and it's even better if someone can help provide a solution.

Regarding Wi-Fi calling over data, are you trying to use a US number in a different country where it previously worked over Wi-Fi calling?

Contact your network provider as not all provide it regarding 4g/5g signal.

WiFi calling is implemented on all the phones i have had so since s2, you are sadly misinformed and maybe have missed calls

As others have posted, have your network carried turn in WiFi calling on you account and the option to switch on should appear. I am assuming you have WiFi calling available on your network

I am well aware that wifi calling is implemented. I know how to use it. This issue is it's inability to use secondary mobile data on addition to traditional wifi.

In general, wifi calling works. It's when I'm away from a wifi network replying in the mobile data of my secondary sim that I'm at a loss. I've tried everything and I've done searches to find a solution on Google, Reddit and my provider. From what I've seen it's a Samsung issue.

Hmmm are you sure the iPhone used the second sims data for the WiFi calling? Have you checked to see if data roaming is on? For the us sim?.

If you know and understand what WiFi calling is then, why would you ask for WiFi calling on data? If on data then it wouldnt be WiFi calling? That's be calling over data which is what 4G is?

What I think your asking is why can't you use WiFi and mobile data at the same time? If you had WiFi you wouldnt needed mobile data? Why would you have both?

You may also find that no mobile phone manufacturer does, not just Samsung.

You need two phones if I understand you question, as you want to use data from one sim on phone and WiFi calling on other as mobile phones always prioritise the primary sim for WiFi calling that wouldn't work on one phone

Maybe I am just confused....good luck

Go to Settings > Connections > SIM Manager and turn on Data Switching. Then click 'More SIM Settings' and turn on 'Dual SIM Always On.' It's taken me a while to understand your query, but that might solve your issue. Hope this helps!
