Why is facial recognition so poor on android!

I have been an avid Apple iPhone user for over 10 years and I kept my 12 pro for 4 years waiting for Apple to come up with sominew other than some new emojis.
So last month I took the plunge and purchased a Fold 6 which is an amazing piece of kit and I love it, the realisation of a folding screen still amazes me BUT one thing is really annoying me and that's every time I pick it up as the facial recognition is rubbish and never works.
I've deleted and re-added my face numerous times in different lights and no the camera is not dirty but it doesn't work!
Come on Samsung you made me leave Apple but where the iPhone facial recognition just works every time in any light why oh why on a phone costing a massive £1800 do I need to mess around with finger print and pin codes, it's not good enough

Because face recognition isn't considered as class 3 security like apples face ID, however the new pixel 9 series has the class 3 security on there phones so should be slightly better, also you have to remember if it's apple your comparing it to there phones have a true depth camera to take a 3d scan of your face unlike android does.

Apple uses much more sophisticated facial recognition hardware, which is why they still have the large notch, android uses the front facing camera which by comparison, is a more basic setup for this.

Largely android relies on a fingerprint for security which is very secure.

The other drawback you have with the fold, is the front facing camera is under the screen which results in reduced quality, and I'm guessing, reduced facial recognition - my S24 Ultra has very fast facial recognition but it's a different set up to yours....

Apples is better because thats the only security feature they have unlike samsung which have fingerprint which is considered more secure than face recognition, apple only use this feature as a security measure so it has to be good.

Don't worry, when apple ditches the notch and brings under display fingerprint sensors... *Cough* sorry I mean 'magical touch ID' it will be the best orignal invention the world has ever seen and the apple community will lose their minds 😂

Apple will never implement this it's too "risky" for them they'll stick to what they know best I'm sure

Maybe. I guess if they can package it smaller and get it to work in a hole punch size camera / or hide it behind the screen, it will be an improvement

They need to do away with the island thing or hide that behind the screen I don't mind the hole punch on the samsung and pixels it's small enough to forget it's there!

100%.

I find Face recognition annoying and the finger print on the power button is perfect and natural.
