Thought we could put together a Community guide for the initial setting up of a Galaxy Z Fold3.
Kicking off with some basic steps:
- Before you start, always a good idea to make sure your phone is fully charged.
- Before you turn the phone on for the first time, insert your SIM. Then turn the phone on, and follow the onscreen prompts for service provider setup.
(For that very first setup, recent European Samsung smartphones need to get software from a mobile network’s server to ensure access to the right features, services and software updates. If you don’t get any “service provider” onscreen prompts, then try inserting your physical SIM on the other side of the SIM tray. Occasionally there can also be a delay in the IMEI info communication between the device and network server, so it might not work immediately sometimes.)
- Connect the phone to your Wi-Fi: Select your network, enter your password, tap ‘Connect’.

- Create, or add your Google account by signing into it, on your new phone - this’ll allow you to access the Play Store and your Google apps.
- Protect your phone: set up your security with a fingerprint scan, face recognition, PIN, pattern or password.
- Create or log in to your Samsung account on your new phone, ensuring you read and accept the Terms and Conditions, and select your preferred Google services. If you’ve restored from another device, enter your Two-Step verification code.
