In this post I shall be comparing my experience of the latest Fold with S Devices. I shall largely be comparing to to my S21 Ultra so much useful for those who have not upgraded in a little while, I do mention more modern Devices though.
Compared to my S21 ultra I would say that the Z Fold 6 is a significantly faster and smoother experience. Whilst the older device is still running pretty well and with good maintenance tends not to suffer too much lagging it is a noticeable difference.
The screen is much Brighter and creates a more pleasurable experience though I have tended to use the natural display setting. The maximum Brightness is 2600 nits compared to 1500 nits on the main screen and also quite an upgrade if you have the S23 Ultra which is 1750 nits. The same experience on the S24 Ultra though without the choice of a bigger screen.
However it is the form factor where the advantage lies in providing a flexible experience and much better for multitasking (I have mentioned more detail in previous articles).
Whilst I have never owned a Fold before I have viewed some detailed videos and had a little hands on experience.
The haptic feedback is strong, difficult to miss a phone call or alarm and Samsung has made strides over the years, though think similar on modern flagships. However further enhancements are on the horizon with One UI 7. I find the speaker quality is on another level with crisp and louder audio. However one tip, on the outer screen best to rotate the device 90 degrees into Landscape Mode so that the speakers are on the left and right channels. A premium sound with the Galaxy Buds 3 pro with the right balance (I do have a more detailed review on that in the Wearables section)
Much has been made of the fact that critics /expert customers believe that the camera performance does not match the Flagship slab Devices but whilst the upgrade with the latest Fold cameras may be marginal can still be very impressive in certain situations. Whilst 50 mp is the highest available as many will know a variety of factors effect photo quality such as lens quality, sensor size and software processing. Bearing in mind that I am not the most skilled photographer, I will show some comparisons. May be more challenging in low light conditions, though aware that some testers have produced very high quality Night Mode photos.
