iPhone16 - Another slab phone

A tried to sway a few family members to Samsung slab, flip mobiles, but they are hooked on the iPhone, so looking to upgrade my sisters iPhone 12 to the 15, then realised in two weeks the iPhone 16 is to be released.

Point of the post, is it just me or is the iPhone the lamest design, innovative product out there?

From the X to the 15 aside from size increases, its been and endless camera hokey cokey, which even led to people just sticking on camera covers to mick the latest iteration.

Or is the simple, premium, desirable shiny thing with a great ecosystem (less Microsoft) better than endless innovation ?

I think it goes down to the user. I don't use iPhone because I cannot get used to how they work as a OS, Samsung is much easier to use and incorporates all I need in a phone and although recently it's a tad more expensive than iPhone, you can use alot of free apps, unlike iPhone which you have to buy.

It's basically the same same every year
There will be the odd new feature or two they give fancy phrases to or fancy name.
That said, people like the design. Most of any difference is software. But when you look now, mostly it's all about software features with new phones.
Apple knows their market and I guess think if it's not broke. Don't fix it
Bring out a similar phone to last year. Throw in some fancy names and phrases
Then watch the money roll in

@Obsydian  It may work for Apple and some rave about their software/ecosystem but does not do it for me.  (did have a few iphones a while ago)  I think they are lacking inovation/imagination.

My weakness about iPhone is the camera(still😏) and the screen, but I won't use them because Samsung is more versatile as a phone.

The camera is not all that
Things like the photos of the Moon last night I took and posted. The iPhone can't do that. Screen is OK. But I do think my S24 Ultra screen looks much better

I have to keep a leg on each side, Samsung, for me, but I have to keep up with Apple as updates and things for family members , iPhone, Airpods, Watch, iPads.

I just wish Samsung would work towards getting a wider frame for the selfie camera because I am struggling with that and to get more sharp detail for the rear camera, I am over all happy with the camera and especially when I use in nature and at events, but it's just these things I wish they could be improved, to make the pictures look a bit more professional. The screen is ok but S23U has got more vivid colours even and the one from iPhone makes my eyes feel more comfortable. Sorry. 😞

If it ain't broke why fix it? iPhone sells like hotcakes every single year with minor iterative updates. Samsung still copies them hoping for the same success. They'll wait to perfect the foldable then release the best on the market while Samsung releases half baked Folds and Flips every year doing Apple's donkey work for them
