so i got a refurbished flip 4 and it arrived today, there are issues with it and I need to send it back, to do so I need to factory reset it.

however I'm a dumbass, I've never had a phone that used a pattern before and can't remember the pattern I used, and am locked out. I've tried so many different things.

  • I didn't set up a Samsung account so I can't reset through that

  • google find my phone can not connect to the device so I can't use that

  • for some reason, I can't put it in recovery mode and reset it through there

I really need help as there is a pretty small return window where I can get a refund, thank you for reading

I am no expert and i assume someone else on this forum group may correct if I am wrong.

The idea of having the security, whether it is a password, a pass code, or a pattern, is to ensure it is able to keep the phone secure.

If it was easy to just bypass the security of the phone then it would make it pretty insecure, and this is why it is hard to break that security.

As far as I am aware there are not any easy way to factory reset without the security code. Otherwise if the phone was stolen, a thief could just do a factory reset to bypass any security and repurpose the phone as a clean install.

Personally I think you will need to try and get the security pattern that you set. If you only received the phone today, then do you not have any idea what you programmed in ?

Sorry I can't be of more help. Maybe one of the other forum members might have some solution.

Hi @relios and may I extend a Warm Welcome to the Samsung Community Forum.

@smiley is right ️  in that the pin , pattern or fingerprint Biometrics is a security protocol to help protect the phone and it's contents.

Have a look at > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/i-cant-unlock-my-device/

If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask  😎
