My Samsung Fold 3 totally lost all sound from the phone in just over a year of use.
I went to an Authorized Service Center and was charging me SG$700 to repair it.
An independent specialist informed me that this issue is product failure and not user issue (never dropped, screen display OK..) Samsung should understand between product failure and user issue.
This speaker issue (no sound from call, music, ringing) means the connection cut off maybe because of the fold screen design cutting off the cable to feed the speaker. Nevertheless Samsung should take responsibility and repair this issue at no cost to customer.

So is there any update on this?
I did a software update and now I'm getting no sound at all. I am also intermittently having issues with the phone switching to the main screen when I unfold (it only works if I lock the phone, unfold, then unlock)
It was working perfectly before the update, so it's clearly a software issue.
If Samsung refuses to bug test their updates then we should at least have the option to rollback to an update where the phone was FUNCTIONAL.
It's ridiculous that there is still no update from Samsung about this.

In my view, we need to find out who the VP or General Manager of the Samsung Fold business is, maybe via LinkedIn, and write to them multiple times and point to this thread. This problem has been there for months now and there are increasing reports.
Failing that we need to write to the CEO or generate some negative press. Maybe a journalist can help raise awareness. Or someone who compares Samsung Fold and Pixel Fold performance after a year might be interested in this topic. Either way, a buzz around this problem needs to be generated.

I have done another software update today that has partially fixed the problem.
I am now able to play sound when the phone is folded, but there is still no sound when the phone is unfolded. I also still have the issue where I have to lock the phone before unfolding if I want to switch to the main screen.
Again, because the update broke the sound and has now partially fixed it I am confident it is a software issue.
The patch notes for the update included a whole bunch of new features - it's impossible to care about these when my phone is not fully functional. There was no information on whether the update included the relevant bug fixes or not.
Once again this could all be fixed and triaged with a proper rollback option, or at least some sort of communication from Samsung themselves, rather than leaving us to play guessing games on their community forum.
EDIT: a restart has fixed the folding and rotate issue (for now) but the inner screen audio issue remains

I have the same problem and I think it's a hardware problem although I can't remember that I dropped my phone!
However, found that if you folded the inner screen at a certain angle, the sound returns to normal.
What is the solution?

Hi
i've got the same issue, but more intermittent. sometimes I get sound when it's folded or part folded. no longer get any sound when it's unfolded, so I suspect a hardware fault - I read somewhere that the hinge traps the wire to the speaker when unfolded.
anyone found a fix our what can be done about its?
