My husband had the same thing happen. He opened his flip 5 and it made a snap sound. The full screen went black and could not get it to do anything. I then realized if I use the small screen I could turn it off and on and get his messages. I called Samsung and it was still under warranty and told me the repair was free. Once I sent it in, I received an email saying it would cost $258.00 to fix. I called Samsung and they claimed the phone had been damaged by us. All he did was open it like every other day. It was never dropped or abused! I called again and did not get any callback. They told me that if I didn't pay the amount, they would send the phone back still broken. The warranty is worthless as far as I am concerned. pattyajim

12 month manufacturer warranty won't cover it. Same exact issue happened with my z flip 5 and a certified Samsung store wanted to charge me $350.00 to fix it. Even though I was told specifically when I bought the phone that it'd come with a free screen replacement one time. ***** bullshi

Hello,
I read the messages and I am in the same situation. No idea what happened to the phone as I didn't dropped and has a cover.
I went to samsung store and they told me that there are small scratches which is nothing to do with the screen going black. I really think that when you flip the phone probably damage the screen and is not fit for purpose.
My screen started with a black stain and seemed there is a small dent no idea how happened and all samsung does is blaming me and charge me to repair .
It's outrageous as I bought the phone less than 1 year ago

I never dropped my phone, yesterday morning opened exact same image above, center crease line showed up. Without any mishandling or dropping, the screen developed a broad black line in the center and became unresponsive to touch. The line has gradually widened, making the phone unusable.
Contacted the samsung store where I purchased (in aug 2023). Said entire screen has to replaced and will cost me approx 30000INR. For a phone sixteen months old, this repair cost feels exorbitant. It raises questions about whether this issue could stem from a design or manufacturing flaw.
This situation is particularly disappointing as it involves a flagship, premium model, which one would expect to reflect superior durability. Despite Samsung's claims of being eco-friendly—by reducing accessories in product packaging—it seems their repair options are neither affordable nor aligned with sustainability goals. Instead, it feels like we’re being encouraged to follow a "use and throw" culture, even with high-end devices.
