The phone shouldn't be switching off when you close it.
My advice is to try the following troubleshooting steps >
Also please do send your feedback via your Samsung Members App so this goes directly to the relevant Samsung Department.
However also as you've only just taken ownership also look at any relevant cooling off period to have the phone swapped out as you shouldn't really have to be troubleshooting a brand new phone.
